Urban Consulate welcomes #1 New York Times bestselling author Jason Reynolds to Detroit

Detroit, MI — Inspired by his brilliance as a writer, poet, storyteller, teacher and lover of learning, Urban Consulate is honored to welcome #1 New York Times bestselling author Jason Reynolds to Detroit for a conversation with host Orlando P. Bailey to celebrate the power of Black wisdom, imagination and expertise in building more just and equitable communities.
Reynolds will headline an evening premiere of Urban Consulate: In Session — a new collection of recorded wisdom from visionary changemakers — on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, 6:30 p.m. at The Garden Theater, 3929 Woodward Avenue in Midtown Detroit. Reynolds’ books will be available on-site for sale and signing from Source Booksellers.
Tickets are free to the public thanks to generous support from Ford Foundation and Skillman Foundation. All ages welcome. Seating is limited. Advance registration online here.
About Jason Reynolds
Jason Reynolds is a #1 New York Times bestselling author of many award-winning books, including Look Both Ways: A Tale Told in Ten Blocks; All American Boys (with Brendan Kiely); Long Way Down; Stamped: Racism, Antiracism and You (with Ibram X. Kendi); Stuntboy, in the Meantime (illustrated by Raul the Third); and Ain't Burned All the Bright (with artwork by Jason Griffin).
The recipient of a Newbery Honor, a Printz Honor, an NAACP Image Award, and multiple Coretta Scott King honors, Reynolds was the 2020-2022 National Ambassador for Young People's Literature.
