Join us for a conversation led by cultural placekeeper Lauren Hood about this moment of change in Detroit. Lauren has questions: As Detroit and other culturally rich cities across the country go the way of Anytown U.S.A., how do we define & uplift that which makes us unique? How do we maintain our cultural identity as the physical & social landscape shift? What is our “culture” here and how do we maintain it in light of powerful forces who knowingly or unwittingly erase or replace what is already here?
This will be the first in a series to discuss just some of the people, places & events that have shaped our cultural experiences and helped define the Detroit experience.
With Special Guests:
- Adriel Thornton, cultural ambassador, FreshCorp
- Drake Phifer, event producer, Urban Organic
