WORKSHOP: COMMUNITY TRAUMA & HEALING

  • Urban Consulate 4735 Cass Avenue Detroit, MI, 48201 United States (map)

Join us in the parlor for a special workshop titled “Community Building in the 21st Century: Exploring Trauma, Healing, and Inclusive Growth” led by visiting guest Michael O'Bryan of Philadelphia.

O'Bryan is an Urban Innovation Fellow at Drexel University's Lindy Institute and Director of Youth Programs at Village of Arts & Humanities in Philadelphia. He consults locally and nationally, exploring the intersections of trauma-informed practice and community well-being. Much of O'Bryan's work has centered on amplifying the voices of marginalized populations, touching the worlds of performance art and public health. In 2014, he was awarded “Child Advocate of The Year” by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and Innovator of the Week in 2016 by Urban Innovation Exchange. In 2017, he was selected as an Emerging City Champion by Knight Foundation & 880 Cities and named one of the People Changing Philly.
