What can activists today learn from the activism of the 1960s & 70s? What is different today? What is the same? Join us in the parlor with Sheila Cockrel and Sandra Yu Stahl of Citizen Detroit, a community engagement initiative established to educate, engage and mobilize residents to fully participate in city government and civic life. Sandra will interview Sheila about her days as a young community activist to shut down STRESS, a decoy police unit that killed 21 Detroiters following the 1967 civil disturbance, and how her approach to activism has shifted since.
